Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 21 runs in their first Super Four Stage Match.

Sri Lanka won the first match in Super Four stage against Bangladesh

Batting first: Sri Lanka scored 257 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Samarawickrama played a brilliant innings of 93 runs for his team. Kusal Mendis also added to his team’s score by playing a 50-run innings.

Samarawickrama’s 60-run partnership with Dasun Shanaka, who scored 24. Sri Lanka started well when Dimuth Karunaratne struck Mahmud for two boundaries, but the quick bowler sent him out for 18 on the following delivery. Pathum Nissanka and Mendis scored 74 runs to restore order, forcing Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan to change his bowlers.

Mendis hit his fifty with a boundary off Shoriful in the following over, but the quick bowler caught him four balls later. Ahmed bowled Charith Asalanka out for 10 with a slower delivery. Dhananajaya de Silva left shortly after. Samarawickrama hit the bowlers with a boundary after boundary and eclipsed his ODI high of 82.

Taksin Ahmad and Hasan Mahmud dismissed three players each from the Bangladesh team.

Bangladesh Bowling:

  •  Taskin Ahmed 62/3, 10 Overs.
  •  Hasan Mahmud 57/3, 9 Overs.

Batting Second: Bangladesh’s innings did not start well and 4 players were dismissed for 83 runs. After 4 Wickets down, Towhid Hridoy played an innings of 82 runs for Bangladesh, But Bangladesh could not win the match. After losing the match against Sri Lanka, the Bangladesh team is out of the final.
